Indie Shuffle – ‘Joshua Delaney is a busy man’

OCDANTAR is the guise of Joshua Delaney’s solo body of electronic work and production collaborations. Savvy readers will notice OCDANTAR is Rat & Co backwards, sort of. The frontman and producer in ambient electronic group Rat & Co and bassist in local Melbourne rockers SMILE, it seems a natural progression for Joshua step forward and bring forth his own tunes under a solo alias.

Over the past two years Joshua has lent his production skills to Total Giovanni, ESESE, IO, Boats and works closely with mixing magician Andrei Eremin and sound sorcerer Simon Lam.

Layering ambient vocals, crunching beats, cascading guitar melodies and glitchy organic samples, Joshua Delaney is “bridging the gap between trip-hop and the zeitgeist ambient beat-makers of now”. 

Making waves early on under his new guise, Ocdantar’s second show was opening ‘Smalltown’, a Novel Presents party supporting Nina Kraviz, Ben Klock, Bicep and Fantastic Man. The same week Ocdantar performed his third show to a sold out crowd as main support for Shigeto in Melbourne.  

Ocdantar’s upcoming EP ‘Time In Flux’ is due for release in the first half of 2016.
