BIO
Formed by artists, Rhys Mitchell and Max Turner in the winter of 2012, Mouth Tooth went on to create one of the most beautiful and unique outsider records of 2013 with their debut EP Group Therapy. From the Cat Power inspired “Try” to the rising swell of "Red Belly Road House Blues”, which resembles a soft drunken Fairport Convention. The music of Mouth Tooth is a meditation in loneliness, expressing the melancholy of love lost and heartbreak. This first release washed through town like a missionary converting a small village of loyal followers. The village included such followers as Californian royalty Woods, who had them guest their Melbourne appearance, and outsider folk poster boy Devendra Banhart, who when they supported, Banhart described as "transcendental' - a beautiful place in which he wished he could never leave. Smooch Records is proud to announce the deluxe gatefold vinyl edition of Group Therapy, pressed alongside Mouth Tooth’s brand new EP Memory Foam, recorded at Smooch with the help of Jack Farley, Nao Anzai and Mikey Young. It is a glorious return; slow and beautiful, mature in its sonic depth and its lyrical prowess, sad.
